**This blog will be long and there will be quite a few pictures**
Waking up at 6:30 on a Saturday morning is NEVER any fun. Especially when you are waking up that early to make sure you can blow dry your hair and give it a little curl...I mean honestly, who cares. Hahaha! On this particular Saturday I had to make sure my hair was looking at least a little nice for our beach photo shoot with Tracy van Dam. I like to have our pictures taken like every five or six months, it sounds silly but when my kids are older they will appreciate it. So I got up the earliest (6:30) and then woke up the husband a little later, the kids woke up on their own from whatever noise I was making, and we were all pressed, dressed, and ready to go by 8:15 exactly as I had scheduled it (love when that happens). The shoot was only about 8 minutes away and we made it there right around 8:30. This was the first time Max or Gabriella had been on a beach in Southern California and Max was in heaven! Absolutely ecstatic to be so near the ocean. So after some family shots and a little adventure over some rocks, we let him walk into the ocean a little bit with Ryan. Meanwhile I was trying to get Gabriella acquainted to the beach and she was having none of it. At first after she had been sitting in the sand crying for a few minutes, she quieted down and started feeling the sand with her hands I thought she was going to do great...but then she sticks a handful of the sand in her mouth. She didn't cry while she was eating it, she cried when she saw the shock on my face and as I was trying to wipe it out of her mouth and off of her face she freaked out a little. So that wasn't going the way I planned, but oh well. Ryan took Gabriella into the water with Max and she was having fun sticking her hands in the water. Max was having a blast running from the waves (that were a little tiny bit faster thanks to the earthquake in Japan) and as he was running from one he tripped and ended up all the way in the water. Good thing the shoot was just about over because I would have been one upset mama if this had happened before we took the pictures haha! We all thought it was hilarious though and got a real good laugh out of it! So we headed back up the shore to our car and said our goodbyes to Tracy. She is surely becoming like a part of the family, like a distant relative we only see twice a year. She has watched the kids grow like crazy and I hope she is the one who photographs their weddings one day.
We headed back to the hotel room to change our clothes and get Max cleaned up. Max was still clueless to where we were going that day but he knew we were doing something special for him. After he saw we were all wearing some sort of Lego shirt he asked what was going on (sometimes hes too smart) I just told him we were all going to match and have a good time.
So we were headed out the door to Lego Land which was only about four minutes away from our hotel (smart booking) and after weeks of spelling out L-E-G-O-L-A-N-D I was finally able to let Max in on the secret! So as we were driving I handed him the map of Lego Land and he was looking at it telling us how bad he wanted to go there some day and telling me about all the different things we could do. So I turned around and said "Well guess what?! That's where we will be in just a few minutes!" Now, Max is very perceptive and he likes to make it seem like he knows everything so all I got at first was an "I know." but then he started talking SUPER fast telling me we had to do this or that from the map and Lego Land is his favorite place ever (we've never been there). So thats when I got to see him so excited to be going and all the planning and secret keeping totally paid off.
Before I get into the park with you I just wanted you to know that Max LOVES Legos. He literally has thousands of them in this box I keep in his closet because he cant play with them when Gabriella is around (she may choke on one). So I knew that once Max was old enough to enjoy all that Lego Land has to offer we would take him there. I figured his fifth birthday month was the perfect time. We also dont believe in only taking one kid somewhere, which is why even though Gabriella couldn't thoroughly enjoy everything she was still there. No matter what we are a family and a team. We will never leave one kid out even if it is to celebrate the others birthday.
My first impression of this place is HOLY COW. It is literally made of Legos (haha!) We decided to go towards the dinosaur area (Dino Island) first and we hit up everything we could there, (Gabriella was able to go on the Fairy Tale Brook ride with us). I wont go into detail on every single thing we did because this blog would go on for days, I'll just give you a quick rundown. Oh and let me tell you this too (haha) Ryan and I took turn riding the rides with Max and staying with Gabriella. She was only able to ride a few things with us but we would rather have her there in the stroller than have left her back at home with a sitter. We decided to hit up every part of the park and do all we could that first day and on the second day we would do the more specific things Max wanted to do. So from Dino Island we went to the Duplo Village and had some lunch. Maximus got his drivers license there! This kid is ALWAYS talking about when he is older and he can drive himself to school (not looking forward to that) so when I saw that we could do this I jumped! Fun Town was next but we didn't do too much there, we looked around and I think there, we knew for sure the stuff there would wait until the next day. Pirate Shores was next and that place was AWESOME! Max and Ryan rode all the rides there and got wet on one of them! From there we went to Mini Land which was sooooo cool! To see all the cities and monuments made of Legos was really neat. Gabriella feel asleep while we were in this area and slept while we were in Castle Hill. Max and I rode a lot of the rides together in this area. Land of Adventure and Imagination Zone were the last two areas to stop at. We tried to do everything we could there but it was nearing 4:30 and we still wanted to make a stop and The Big Shop and get Max a Lego set and we knew it was going to be busy. We made it to The Big Shop and then headed out of the park. We walked the VERY SHORT distance to the car and headed back to the hotel.
Our first day was amazing. All of us loved it. Everyone we had to deal with (employees) were SUPER nice. The park in general was really clean. The lines was pretty short for a weekend. Parking was out of control amazing. When we went to Disney Land a few years back we parked where they told us to and I (7 months pregnant) was in tears basically by the time we got back to the car when we were leaving, Ryan would have carried me to the car but he was carrying a sleeping Max. Knowing that the car was not far at all was soooo great. I would definitely recommend to anyone with kids to bring your kids here. It was so much fun for Max, and the prices of the food were not bad at all. They allow you to bring whatever you need for your kids, snacks, drinks, diapers, whatever haha. It was just fantastic.
So ending day one was bittersweet. We were having so much fun that we were not ready to leave and Max didn't know he was coming back for a second day so he was really upset, plus he was super tired so we got an earful on the way back to the hotel.
I'll blog about day two later on. Laundry and other things need to be done around here.

Lego Land Weekend Begins...
I am soooo tired from this weekend so I'm going to just post about Friday night and I'll do the rest of the weekend tommorrow!
=)
We left early on Friday night to go to Carlsbad and check into our hotel room because we had an 8:30 a.m. photo shoot with Tracy van Dam on Saturday morning and we didn't want to have to get up at like 3:00 or 4:00 to get down to the beach by 8:30. As we pulled into the hotel to check in we noticed a Benihana's literally across the street! I have never been there and I know it isn't exactly the place to take kids but we jumped at the chance to go. So after getting all settled into the room and relaxing for a little bit we walked across the street to the restaurant and gave them our names and what not. After about 20 minutes they took us to the grill seating and we were sat with two COUPLES who were not prepared to sit with two rambunctious kids while they were on their date night, so Ryan and I (being as considerate as we are) asked to be moved to the other side of the restaurant where we would be in a booth, far away from date night haha! We just didn't want to intrude on the nights of people without kids because if it were us we wouldn't want to be interrupted either, I dont even know why the hostess would have done that anyways but thats neither here nor there. MOVING ON. We ate some delicious food, all of us used chopsticks (not Gabriella but Maximus did) and ended the night early with bath time for the kiddies and some game shows on the TV.

Thankful Thursdays- 15
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
This week has gone by in a flash. It seems that lately thats what life has been; a flash of moments everyday and then sleep. During these times though I am always still thankful for ALL of these moments. I couldn't ask for more from our Lord.
So this week I am thankful for everything I have been given but here are a few examples...
141. for the peace of mind I have. I know that no matter what God is here to catch me when I fall and as the verse above says he will hold me up with his righteous right hand.
142. that all of our plans we've been making for months now are finally coming to fruition!
143. that the weather seems to know that we have things that we need nice weather to do!
144. that Max's mouth is pretty much healed and he is finally able to eat solid foods again!
145. for my inlaws who treat my kids and myself like we've been part of the family for our whole lives...well Gabriella has but you know what I'm saying.
146. that my sister in law remembers that I love her Ceaser Salad and makes it for me whenever we have dinner with them!
147. that my husband sits back and lets me plan things without giving me too much grief.
148. that even though I didn't get the job I thought I wanted, God showed me some of his plan for me with the peace that came over my heart.
149. that Joel got here for his R&R from Iraq safely.
150. that even though other people don't have a positive outlook on life...I do, because of our God.
Think of everything you have to be thankful for this week...and be thankful all over again.

Did I Really Let Him Go?!
As you well know, Maximus is almost five. There have been very few, and I mean VERY few, times that I have let him be away from me for more than a night. I don't like the idea of something happening to him and me not being there. I don't ever want him to feel like I'm not there for him. Nothing. I just don't like him being gone like that.
The few times I have made exceptions were for legit reasons. The first time was over Christmas break before he had even turned one. I was working and could not get off for as long as I needed to be, so he stayed with my dad and step mom for a week and a half I think. At the time my mom was my baby sitter and the only person I knew where we were living in Texas, my job was mine and Max's livelihood and there was no way I was going to lose that job. So he had to go to my dads house. I was tore up about that but as any other single mother knows, sometimes you HAVE TO do things you don't want to do for the sake of your kids. The second time was once again while we were in Texas, my mom was going on a trip for about a week and she was my sitter. It was either let her take him with her or lose my job. So I let her take him. Those are the two times that he has been away from me for longer than a day and a night. There have been a few handfuls of times when he has stayed the night at my moms for the night for their "sleepovers" as Max calls them and he has stayed at Ryan's brothers house for a night before too.
Tonight is a somewhat different story. He is spending tonight at Ryan's brothers house, and going to Knotts Berry Farm in the morning, then spending the night again, and coming home in the morning right before he has to go to school. Ryan's dad and step mom are in California for a little while this month and they wanted to take all their grand kids (minus Gabriella...I have my limits haha) to do something fun while they were here. At first when they asked me I immediately said no. I didn't feel comfortable with him going somewhere like that without me there to buffer him or without me there just in case something were to happen to him. After a few minutes of thought I realized, Max is almost five and one of these days he's going to be a teenager wanting to go out and do those things so I need to probably cut that umbilical cord now. The only reason I hold on like this is for my benefit. It makes me feel better to know I am in control of everything. I mean I know Ryan's family are fully able to take care of Max. Ryan's brother and his wife Ann have raised four amazing kids, I'm sure they can handle one of mine.
So I went ahead and said you know what, yeah you guys can take him.
Now as I'm sitting here, Gabriella is in bed and Max would normally be too but he's not. He's probably playing with his favorite cousin Christian and having a blast. Tomorrow when I wake up and he's not here and I only have to take care of Gabriella I know it will be so odd feeling, but I also know he will be having a great time with his family and no matter how much it hurts me to go without seeing him for two days, its totally worth it for the experience he gets out of it.
I already can't wait for him to come home though!

Thankful Thursdays- 14
In the day that I called, you answered me. You encouraged me with strength in my soul. --Psalms 138:3
This week has been quite an ordeal. Max has been having issues with his mouth/teeth that have been trying for all of us. Lots of crying and sleepless nights. Gabriella had to get 6 shots and blood drawn so shes been a little more sensitive than usual. I still am thankful for tons of things but this week in particular I am thankful for...
131. the quiet moments I've had the last few days.
132. our neighbors who have yet to forget an occasion and have picked up boxes we weren't here to receive for us. The Mrs. made Bella a blanket when she was born, brought her a doll for her birthday, and recently brought Max some monster trucks for an early birthday gift since they'll be gone on his birthday.
133. the forgiveness that I have inside of me.
134. that I have people who enjoy reading my blog.
135. a husband who will let me stalk him with my camera. ; )
136. my brain.
137. the random memories that were dug up when I started writing out Our Story...So Far.
138. my ambition.
139. that I got a job interview finally.
140. that God decided one day that I needed a sister. So I got my one and only.

How Do You Spell Mommy? T-I-R-E-D
Picture this.
You're trying to make dinner, have your 4 year old do his homework, and keep your one year old happy for five minutes. Now add this in; the four year old doesn't want to do his homework and is whining in his OUTSIDE voice, and your one year old doesn't want to be happy...at all, so shes at your feet. Then you think well I'll put the gate up and she wont get burned by the heat of the stove, you put her on the other side and the hysterics of your house are now out of control. Can you even hear yourself think enough to try and make everyone calm down? I didn't think so.
Take a deep breath. Turn off whatever you're cooking. Pick up the one year old. Sit down at the table with the four year old. Everyone is suddenly quiet right?
Welcome to one of the crazier days in my life. It isn't always like this of course. When Ryan's home the kids act like they're total angels (figures) and there are some days when the kids are just in excellent moods. I don't know if I just have needy kids or if all moms have these moments, because I'm not every mom, I'm just A mom. I dont know how all the other moms out there would handle stress or frustration, I just know how I handle it.
There are some days where I've just literally had enough. I will just stand there and look at them and that normally makes them stop for a second to look at me like what the heck is she doing right now. (hahahaha) Other times, I'm not even fazed by them. Over the last five years I've developed the wonderful ability to tune certain things out. And if the kids are just being loud playing together then I halfway tune them out. I am still paying attention (always) but I'm not focusing all my energy on them. Then there are times when I want to rip my hair out. Like I've said before, I'm not the mom who is going to hold anything back or make it seem like everything is always peaches and cream...cause its not. When both of my kids are tired, or they both don't feel good, or they're just both in the mood to aggravate me...thats when I think I'm going crazy. When this kind of thing happens I just have to sit on the couch real quick, collect myself, count to ten, and start over.
Sometimes when I get into bed after a particularly grueling day with the kids. I lay there and I think...what in the he** did I get myself into? Then I pray about it, and then its like God has a button he presses up there when he knows I need it, and all the thousands of reasons why I love my kids more than life itself go flashing before my eyes. I see Max doing a dance for me to his favorite MJ song and I see Bella cracking up running away from Max. It is because of him that moms do what they do. If we didn't have God on our side, showing us what to do, we'd be lost and helpless. I give all the glory I have to God and I thank him everyday before I even get out of bed for the strength, wisdom, and patience hes going to give me that day.
I love my kids to pieces, but sometimes its hard. Sometimes moms need a break...and my break is from 7 to (if I can make it) 10 when my kids are asleep and I am still awake. I take those few hours to shower, read a book, or watch a show.Or sometimes I just sit on my couch or bed in silence and bask in it. (hahahaaha)
